Silver Lake
The specific glow that the water receives in the afternoon during the summer, when the surface of the lake looks like liquid silver, has named this beauty – the Silver Lake. Originated from the need to protect the Danube from groundwater and flooding, this lake is actually a river arm of the Danube, which in 1971. was blocked by an embankment in the upper stream, and today one of the most important tourist places in Serbia.
Silver Lake The center of Serbian tourism
It is 14km long, 7-14m deep and 380-450m wide. Thanks to the powerful pumps, the lake water level is constantly lower than the Danube level, so fresh water is constantly provided. On its underground path, water is filtered through numerous sand dunes, allowing it to be perfectly clean and clear. It is rich with fish and is a true paradise for fishermen. And not just for them. Because the lake is known for its rich sports program for recreation, there is boating, kayaking, canoeing, pedal boats. In the immediate vicinity there are mini golf, water polo, beach volleyball, tennis and basketball, aqua park and swimming pool complexes. Good infrastructural equipment, diverse offer, rich and gastronomic offer in restaurants, modern cafes overlooking the lake, beach bars, luxurious accommodation with conference rooms, comfortable lodging in villas on the shore of the lake, pleasant rest with the owners at home, resort and camp, Silver Lake is one of the centers of Serbian tourism.
